A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I wanted to join a couple of other bloggers and start a new project called “The Summer Edition“, where we’d collaborate and show you an outfit a day for a week fitting to a particular topic. Of course I immediately said yes. Working with other passionate girls
(and boys) is one of my favourite things about being a blogger. So during the 3 summer months (June, July & August) we’ll devote one week to sharing our Outfit interpretation with you.
And because I still had so many awesome pictures from Italy to share and way too little time to shoot new ones (looking at you exam season) I decided to use these old-ish pictures. Is that cheating? I hope not! Because old pictures or not, this off-shoulder dress definitely is my go-to outfit for summer nights. If only the weather would go back to summer-y… UGH! So for now the off-shoulder dress is waiting for warmer days and nights to be taken out again.
The Off-Shoulder Dress.
This off-shoulder dress from Mango is one of my all-time favourite purchases. I got it for a bargain when they had -30% off dresses and have been wearing it whenever I could. I hardly ever wear dresses but for some reason I do adore this one. It’s cozy, it’s just the right length and it’s black. I know, I know I said I wouldn’t buy any more black clothes but I just couldn’t resist. Remember my “not a dress & tights kinda girl” post back in Autumn when I said I just didn’t feel good wearing dresses? Well this one is different. I LOVE IT!
I combined it with my favourite summer shoes: Birkenstock. How could you not love them? They’re super cozy, you can wear them all day, they’re good for your feet and they look rather nice. Okay, okay. I once also belonged to the anti-Birkenstock gang but that’s ancient history. Now I’m all heart-eyes emoji for them. Then I topped it all off with a jeans jacket and a choker. Okay, the choker basically only is a shoe lace but shhhh.. don’t tell!
Back to the topic. Summer Night Out.
I shot this look at a lovely summer evening in Italy when we strolled through the old town of Marano Lagunare and enjoyed ourselves. When I first heard the topic I immediately imagined myself in a flowy off-shoulder dress, walking along an Italian old-town eating ice-cream. There’s no ice-cream on the pictures because I completely forgot to take pictures while I was eating it. Food > Pictures, always. Nevermind. I don’t know but for some reason I just love being in Italy in summer so much. The food, the atmosphere, the people… la dolce vita!
Pure perfection. I don’t live in Italy but an Austrian summer night out outfit wouldn’t look much different to be honest. Off-shoulder dress, jacket, sandals, sunnies and you’re good to go. That’s what I love about summer. It’s just so simple. No 3698 layers needed in order not to freeze to death. Just pull over one item (a dress!) and it looks nice as it is. Duh!
Also can we take a moment to appreciate these lovely pictures the mister took of me? He did a pretty amazing job there, don’t you think? I do love them – especially the ones where the light is coming from the back. So dreamy!
What do you think of this outfit? Yay or nay to the off-shoulder dress? And what would you wear for a summer night out?
