Summer is approaching with speed of light and I’m already in full on summer mood. Yes, I completely ditched the “yay it’s spring” phase and went in full on summer mode. That’s why I’m already preparing summer-y drinks at home. When I found the first regional strawberries in the shop a couple of days ago I decided that I just need to create a summery cocktail for the blog: the idea for my strawberry mojito recipe was born. Mojitos are my favorite cocktails during summer as they’re super refreshing and super delicious. Add some summery strawberries and I’m over the moon. Plus I wanted to start sharing more recipes on the blog anyway & what’s better than starting with a delicious summery cocktail recipe? Duh, nothing!! Hope you like this idea and enjoy this post as much as the others :)
Ingredients for the Strawberry Mojito:
- 5 cl white rum
- 2 cl lime
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- A few strawberries
- Mint leaves
- Ice cubes/Crushed ice
Put 2 teaspoons of sugar into your cocktail glasses. Add your mint leaves, a splash of lime (about 2cl) and the rum. Mix it before adding your ice cubes to the “syrup”. Of course, an authentic mojito would need crushed ice but it works equally as good with cubes. At the end fill up your glasses with soda. If you want to make them virgin, simply leave out the rum! And if you’re more a fan of sweet cocktails then simply switch the soda for a lemonade, such as Sprite.
Recipe Hack: Cut your strawberries into little pieces and put them into an ice-cube tray. Add some water & freeze the cubes for a couple of hours. Add these strawberry-ice-cubes to your Mojito to make it even prettier and more strawberry tasting ;)
What's your favorite cocktail? And are you as excited about the summer as I am?
