*INVITATION* Some hotels are merely places to stay, spend the night, devour a huge breakfast and leave. Some, however, change something in you. They motivate you. Their vibe stirs something up. And they don’t just provide bed and food but give you the comfort of knowing that they offer more than just that. And the Salzburgerhof Leogang did exactly that for me. They run under the motto of #homeofsports – and that you could feel at every corner.
The Salzburgerhof Leogang – Home of Sports
As soon as we entered the huge lobby of the Salzburgerhof Leogang, we immediately spotted the first bikers. Groups of young guys with helmets and protective gear were assembling themselves in the entrance area, waiting to pick up their bikes and go for a ride at the downhill track right across the hotel. I saw this and I knew I wouldn’t be able to sit still here. Because that’s how my brain works. Comfortable hotel that is designed to make you relax – Kerstin switches off. Comfortable hotel with loads of healthy options around dinner and lunch time, lots of sporty activities – Kerstin is ready to hustle.
I’ve genuinely never been so motivated to go take my bike for a ride, go for a hike or work out at the hotel gym than at the Salzburgerhof Leogang. The whole vibe of the hotel was just so motivating for me and made me feel really comfortable with being active. It didn’t just do that, though. It also provided amazing (healthy) food and a huge spa area to sit down and enjoy a good book after a lovely sauna visit.
Our Room: Double Room DELUXE at the “Holzleo”
We were given the double room deluxe at the Holzleo during our stay at the hotel and found it to be quiet charming. I really liked the dark wood interior in combination with the modern and clean bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the whole room was spacious enough for us to feel comfortable and spend a couple of hours there, catching up on work. Additionally, we had a big balcony that allowed us to marvel at the gorgeous mountain scenery. I especially liked the cozy feel due to all that wood in the room. There’s nothing nicer than lots of wodden furniture in a bedroom, trust me on that one. And most importantly, a fantastic shower to freshen up after an exhausting day in the mountains.
One thing I want to add, though, if you decide to book this hotel in summer, do make sure they give you a room that is not directly located on the main road. We didn’t sleep too well because the cars driving past were just too loud for our liking.
My favourite thing – The FOOD
Now let’s talk about the thing I love talking about most: the food. And the Salzburgerhof Leogang had plenty of that. We had a huge breakfast buffet with loads of healthy, vegan options that even offered protein powder for the athletes. Such a cool thing that I haven’t seen in any other hotel before. Lunch was amazing as well, with a big salad bar, soup and cakes to choose from. And then the dinner – oh man did I love the dinner.
For dinner, you could either opt for a healthy meal, meat, fish or a vegetarian/vegan main course in addition to the salad bar and delicious first courses and dessert, of course. I think the pictures say it all but I seriously thought I landed in heaven. Definitely can recommend that 100%. Also, shoutout to our amazing waiter Costa for always making us laugh and being so incredibly helpful and nice.
On the 5th floor of the hotel, they have an amazing spa area with saunas and a sun deck, as well as one of the best hotel gyms I have ever encountered. With two balconies that provide a killer view, a massive CrossFit station, lots of cardio and weight training opportunities and a water bar this was definitely a playground for every fitness obsessed. Then, there’s the outdoor pool with a view of the mountains and even more spa opportunities inside. Another gimmick, which I absolutely adored was the fact that they encouraged you to take the stairs rather than the elevator by saying that it burns XX calories to go up to your floor.
Another thing I personally really liked about the hotel is its location, directly across the Asitzbahn, which takes you up the mountain and lets you watch the downhill bikers race all day. During the summer months, they kindly provide you with the Löwenalpin Card – a card that allows you to do loads of fun activities in the area and lets you go up the mountain once a day for free. So cool if you want to do something and go on adventures while in Leogang. Additionally, they rent out e-bikes for the day, which we did take up one day. We took the bikes through the woods and across fields and had a blast riding them up steep hills without being too out of breath. SO MUCH FUN!
