Truth be told: I’m very uncreative when it comes to cooking. We usually eat the same meals over and over again until we can’t stand them anymore because I’m not creative enough to find new recipes. And yes there are thousands of amazing food blogs out there but nothing beats a good ol’ cookbook. So today I want to share some of my favourite cookbooks that I’ve been buying and loving recently. Most of them are vegan and healthy. And before someone asks; no I am not vegan nor do I plan on turning into one. I’m just very picky and seldom eat meat. Also I’m allergic to cows milk
(not lactose intolerant) and try to avoid it as good as possible. That’s why I went for mostly vegan and healthy cookbooks with the exception of one delicious burger book. I added a link to Amazon for each book into the titles so you can just click and buy them if you like what you see :)
I gotta admit that raw vegan is a tad too strict for me. But this cookbook is filled with delicious raw meals that require no cooking or effort whatsoever and are ready to make within 10 minutes. There’s not just salads but also delicious cakes and gazpacho ideas. Some of my favourites for example are: chilli-‘cheese’-fries, sweet potato moussaka or sweet potato gnocchi. Simply Raw is a fairly new addition to my cookbook selection and I cannot wait to try some of these delicious recipes.
I’ve never heard about Pegan before I found this book. I’ve been familiar with the paleo and vegan concept but didn’t know there was a word that combined both into one amazing diet. This book is filled with organic, natural and vegan recipes that are easy to make and look absolutely fantastic. Speaking of looks, Pegan is one of the most beautiful pictures I’ve ever seen. It’s so lovingly and beautifully made I literally couldn’t stop looking at its pages and the food-photography in it.
My mother got me this book for my birthday because I wanted to have something helpful and inspiring. I think Clean Eating Basics is a brilliant book for beginners and people who are new to the clean eating concept. Next to delicious recipes it also offers a guideline to clean eating and introduces readers into the concept and ways of eating clean. I consider this amazing because when I first encountered “clean eating” I had absolutely no clue what everyone was talking about.
In comparison to the other Clean Eating book this one has way more recipes. It advertises itself by stating that it includes the favourite recipes of celebs like Orlando Bloom. I honestly couldn’t care less about whose favourite recipes are in the book BUT there are some really delicious looking recipes in there. What I particularly like about this one is the fact that there’s something (healthy) for everyone no matter if you’re a vegetarian, vegan or meat-lover.
I bought this book as a christmas gift for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it. We’ve since then tried a couple of the recipes and utterly loved them. It does not only tell you how to make the perfect patty but also teaches you how to make mayonnaise, buns and other burger things. Also it includes some pretty delicious recipes for hot dogs and bagels. Yummy! Definitely one of my all time favourite cookbooks.
Frisch Gekocht by BILLA | Magazine + Cookbook
One of my all time favourite cookbooks is the Frisch Gekocht magazine by BILLA. There’s a monthly magazine that’s always filled with the most amazing and delicious recipes ever. True, not all of them are easy and quick but the editors never cease to amaze me with their ideas. I’ve been collecting these magazines for 3 years now and therefore have a great selection of recipes for easy access at home. Oh and a couple of years back they even published a cookbook, which is divided into seasons and bloody brilliant. If you’re from Austria I highly recommend checking it out as it’s free to get with your BILLA card.
What do you guys think about cookbooks? Do you use them? And if yes, what’s your favourite ones?
