*INVITATION* At the moment I’d call my life rather stressful. In-between university stress, working, the blog and trying to have somewhat of a social life I almost can see myself slowly approaching a minor burn-out. That is why I decided to grab one of my best friends and treat us to a lovely mini vacay at the Falkensteiner Bad Waltersdorf Thermal & Golf 4* Hotel.
Girls-trip to the Falkensteiner Bad Waltersdorf
Only 40 minutes from Graz the Falkensteiner Bad Waltersdorf hotel seemed to be the perfect choice for a spontaneous weekend getaway to recharge my batteries and prepare ourselves for some crazy weeks filled with exams and work. So I asked one of my best friends if she wanted to accompany me on 3 days filled with relaxing, sauna, swimming and lots of delicious foods. Of course, she was all in the moment I said the word “mini vacay“.
All said and done we packed our bags on Friday and headed towards Bad Waltersdorf. When we checked into our amazing room we couldn’t believe our eyes. We were given one of their Junior Suites with a fabulous view over the pool area and surrounding landscape. My highlight was definitely the beautiful bathtub in our bathroom! We had a very good nights rest due to the extremely comfortable bed, were able to spread out our clothes and makeup stuff all over the room and even once spend the night talking on the balcony because of the amazingly warm temperatures outside.
The Aquapura spa area
What’s the best thing about wellness weekends
(besides the food of course)? The spa!! And believe me, the Falkensteiner Bad Waltersdorf does not disappoint when it comes to the spa area. Shortly after arriving and checking into our suite we decided to head down to the see if the pools are any good. After swimming a little bit in the 34 degree Celsius warm water we decided to lie down and just chill in the sauna area. On Saturday we were super lucky and had AH-MAZING weather. So we took our stuff outside and did a little bit of sunbathing despite it only having about 22 degrees. And duh, I got my first sun-burn of 2016. Summer here we come!!
Also we got to enjoy 60 minutes of Aroma therapy treatment. Veronika, my masseur, made the whole thing absolutely special. We chatted our way through the treatment and when I was done I felt like a whole new person. I should definitely treat myself to beauty treatments and massages more often because, damn, that’s amazing! We did not check out the sauna area though because it was CROWDED with people and extremely warm out anyway.
Now let’s talk about the food! I love food and I always look forward to hotel breakfasts and dinner experiences. The breakfast buffet was rich and they basically offered anything one could ask for. They even provided a can of soy milk even though I suspect that I was the only one in need of it! After stuffing our bellies in the morning we were absolutely prepared for a relaxing day. In the evening the Falkensteiner Bad Waltersdorf Hotel offers a 5 course menu. I told them I was currently eating vegan and got a lovely menu as well even though, again, I was probably the only person there not eating meat or milk.
The only thing I didn’t like that much was the sheer number of people at the hotel. We tried to avoid massive crowds but that wasn’t so easy as the hotel was fully booked on the weekend. I always hate it when there are so many people at the buffet because this way the dinner experience always looses some of its spark. The bar area however, was fantastic! We hands-down had the most amazing barkeeper named Laszlo who made every cocktail special and made us laugh all through the evening!
All in all we had a lovely weekend at the Falkensteiner Bad Waltersdorf! I feel like I’m slowly getting the hang of this whole spa-weekend/wellness trip thing because it’s the only way for me to fully relax and re-motivate myself. And honestly, with no balcony or garden here in Graz it is absolutely necessary for me to visit a hotel for their pool area every once in a while! Oh and by the way, the hotel doesn’t allow kids so that’s a big plus if you ask me :P
Have you ever been to a Falkensteiner Hotel? If yes, what’d you think? And what’s your opinion to spontaneous girls weekends anyway? Let’s talk in the comments below :)
A very special thank you goes out to Falkensteiner for welcoming Miss Getaway as a guest and hosting such a fun and relaxing weekend. The opinion expressed in this post is, as always, 100% my own!
