Ever since I moved out of my parents’ and into my own flat I wanted to have my very own reading corner. However, this dream only just now became reality after living in Graz for almost 3 years. A couple of days ago the design classic Acapulco Chair arrived at my doorsteps and I honestly couldn’t be any happier about it.
I’ve been thinking off and on about what kind of chair to get and where to put it. Our flat isn’t that big (we’re students after all) and due to it being a garret flat there isn’t much space in the corners to place furniture. So I cleared a small space in the bedroom and decided to arrange a little reading corner just for myself. First I wanted to get one of those huge and cozy wing chairs but then I figured it’d take up way too much space. So I finally ordered the Acapulco chair lookalike from WestwingNow, which I’ve been dreaming off ever since I first saw it.
Cosy reading corner with the Acapulco Chair :
When I first told the mister about my idea of buying the Acapulco chair he was laughing at me. Until he realized I was being serious. He said he hated the chair and didn’t want it to be in the flat. Duh, what’s wrong with that guy? Literally no taste. Now that it’s standing in here he actually came to like it. He sometimes glares at it like it’s an intruder but I once saw him sitting on it, playing guitar. So I figured he might like it after all. He’s just too proud to admit that I’ve been right all this time. :D
Anyway, the reading corner isn’t all done yet. I’m still planning on buying one of these white fake furs from IKEA that everyone has in some place or the other. Or maybe another kind of carpet? Holla if you have any amazing ideas on how to decorate the (not so nice) floor. Furthermore, there’s a reading light missing. But I still have to figure out what kind I want and where exactly to put it.
Project reading corner: Done?
To me, the best thing about the Acapulco chair is that it doesn’t have to stay inside the flat forever. At the moment we’re quite happy with the flat we’re living in. However, we’re planning on getting a bigger one with balcony or patio once we both have a job and earn a little bit of money. If that ever happens the Acapulco chair will probably go outside. But we’ll see about that. Isn’t it amazing how versatile this piece of furniture is? Love it!
For now it’s functioning as an amazingly comfortable reading chair, clothes storage place and good looking photo prop in my bedroom. And I honestly couldn’t be happier about it. That’s another interior project done. Isn’t seeing the flat finally coming together one of the most satisfying things in the world? Oh and in case you’re wondering why there’s no bookshelf in sight. That’s because these are in the living room because there’s way more space for them!
