*SPONSORED CONTENT* If you’re following me on Snapchat (miss.getaway) and Instagram (missgetaway) you might already know that I’ve spent the past weekend in beautiful Stockholm, Sweden. We had a fabulous time – one of the reasons for which might have been the great hotel we got to sleep in. As you might know, I traveled to Stockholm in collaboration with ibis for their #travelhard campaign. That also included two nights in the Ibis Styles Stockholm Odenplan – a really great hotel that I want to tell you a bit more about now.
One of the best things about this hotel definitely is the location. Located in Odenplan, only a few meters from the subway station you’ll find the Ibis Styles Hotel. It’s a small historical building next to a busy street. We found the location so great as it made it really easy to travel by subway or walk into the city by foot. There were many shops nearby and the hotel wasn’t too hard to locate either.
Getting to the hotel from the airport took us about 30 minutes and it cost 520 kr. I think on city trips the location of your hotel is one of the most important things. And this one definitely is a nice pick if you decide to spend a few days in Stockholm. Especially if you like discovering your neighbourhood by foot!
Our room at the Ibis Styles Stockholm Odenplan
During our three days in Stockholm, we stayed in a very lovely double room. It had everything you needed for a short city trip. Big comfy bed, check! Great shower, check! Office desk, check! Wifi, check! Clean, check! And believe me, I’m such a snob when it comes to clean hotel rooms. I always check every corner to make sure there’s no dirt around. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves!
I absolutely adored the historical building and the perks that came with it. Our bathroom, for example, was hidden beneath this gorgeous huge white door. LOVE IT! The only thing that I didn’t fancy that much was the fact that the double bed had two separate mattresses. Idk why hotels often have this but it bothers me so much. I need my space across the whole bed and not just one mattress, duh.
Nevertheless, our room was quite lovely and the perfect accommodation for a short weekend getaway. Also, the staff at the hotel was incredibly friendly. Like, really! We had quite some questions about how to get into the city and they always helped us out just fine. Nothing to criticize here, really!
The Breakfast Buffet
The breakfast buffet at the Ibis Styles Stockholm Odenplan was perfectly fine for a short weekend city trip. They had coffee, tea, juice, boiled eggs, pancakes, bread, veggies…. Basically, everything you need! Of course, this breakfast buffet can’t be compared to the fancy-dancy ones that luxury hotels offer you but quite honestly, it’s all you need to fuel up for a day of exploring.
One thing to criticize… the coffee they served was rubbish. I don’t know what it is about coffee but I hardly ever find good coffee at breakfast buffets. Not only in budget hotels but in general. But that’s the least of a problem. I downed an espresso shot each morning and then treated myself to a lovely PSL with coconut milk at Starbucks. Basic white girl move, I know. But I just can’t go a day without my caffeine fix.
All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Ibis Styles Stockholm Odenplan. I would even go as far as to say that this was the best Ibis hotel that I’ve ever stayed in. Due to the historic building and the perks that come with it, it felt more like a fancy old hotel than a budget choice. Absolutely charming – you would have loved the old elevator. So cool!
If you ever plan on going to Stockholm and are in need of a hotel you might want to have a look at this one, it really is a great choice.
Have you ever stayed at an Ibis Styles Hotel? And have you ever been to Stockholm?
A very special thank you goes out to the Ibis Styles Stockholm Odenplan for welcoming Miss Getaway as a guest and hosting such a great stay. The opinion expressed in this post is, as always, 100% my own!
