When I asked you guys what you wanted to see more on the blog some of you said Interior. And as me and the boyfriend spontaneously headed to IKEA on Friday to buy a new shelf for the kitchen/entrance area I decided to share the new addition to my flat with you today. Isn’t it crazy that this is the very first IKEA Billy shelf I own? I feel like this is such a staple item and everyone and their grandmother have
(or had) one. So… say hello to Billy ;)
When we first moved into our flat 2 years ago the majority of our furniture was taken from our old rooms back home or stuff we got from family or friends. I think we can all agree on the fact that moving out can be quite expensive, especially for 2 going-to-be university students. So we figured it might be a good idea only to buy the key items, like the living room sofa, and exchange everything else in the course of time. So that’s exactly what we’re doing now.
As you can see our flat has a rather dark orange-brownish floor and a lot of wooden features such as the doors, the stairs
(yes we have a two-floor flat) and some parts of the ceiling. That’s why, to us, it is important to buy bright and mostly white furniture as a contrast. Concerning the decoration I went for my cooking books and magazines (I’m obsessed with the Austrian “Frisch gekocht” from BILLA as it’s full of delicious meals and you can get it for free, duh amazing!). Apart from that I decided to put my beloved DIY Polaroid Display, my DIY copper plant pots and my cute little metal dog on top of it. Above the BILLY shelf we decided to hang a picture of New York and to finish it off I also put in my lovely copper candle lantern and some clean white boxes for storage in the lowest part of the shelf.
Oh and if you look closely you might see a Star Wars reflection in the lantern… That’s because we have a huge Stormtrooper poster hanging in our entrance area :D
What do you think about our new Billy? Do you like how I decorated it?
