Creativity Without Limits: Fifteen Seconds Festival

Creativity Without Limits: Fifteen Seconds Festival

I honestly feel really bad about publishing this post today. Initially, I planned on typing down and uploading it right after the Fifteen Seconds Festival in Graz. But then there was so much information floating around in my brain that it took me some time to wrap my head around everything I’ve heard and learned. After that, life (aka exam week) got into the way and kept me from finally finishing up this review for you guys.

I know this sort of procrastination kinda contradicts everything I’ll tell you in this post. But well, you know what they say, “You can get the lazy girl out of her bed, but you can’t get the bed out of her.” I’m almost certain nobody has ever said that before but let’s not talk about that any further. Let us not linger on the past and appreciate the fact that I finally sat down and wrote this fifteen seconds festival review for you guys.

What is the Fifteen Seconds Festival?

Okay, first things first. What the heck am I even talking about? On the website they call it “Europe’s festival for curious minds”. And I personally feel like that sums it up pretty well. For 48 hours Graz turns into one big playground for grown-ups, a melting pot for leaders, creators and those who seek to be inspired. The Fifteen Seconds crew brings together brands, leaders and speakers from all over the world to talk about their success stories and how to make it in the big pond that is our world.

From The New York Times, to Google, to Hyperloop, and many many MANY more. They all were there and gave speeches (think, TED Talks) in front of a curious and motivated audience. If you’ve been following me for a little while you might know how much I love inspiring talks, podcasts and books. So the Fifteen Seconds Festival was right down my alley.

Challenging the Commercial Future

First I had to choose the sessions and speeches I wanted to attend. Ugh, that was a task. The schedule looked absolutely brilliant. I’d have loved to attend every single thing on the list. However, that sadly wasn’t possible. Thank god I had the mister with me to listen to the talks I wanted to hear while I went to another one simultaneously.

My favourite talk by far was the one from Mark Adams, Senior Vice President at VICE. What an incredible person! And if you ever get the chance to see him live, you HAVE to go there. It was so much fun listening to him talk about Brand Building in the Age of Social Media. Furthermore, I thoroughly enjoyed Johannes Thorpe (Fr. Creative Director – Bang & Olufsen) talk about Creativity without Limits. One of my favourite topics out there. As a creative person myself I always love to see how others pursue their passion and handle their creative outbursts. ALSO, hearing someone from Hyperloop explain their business model and how they’ll change the future was SO COOL!

But not only were the talks incredible. The whole event was brilliantly designed and literally something I’ll never forget. The whole area was designed to look somewhat like a playground for adults. They had a giant swing, a ball pool for networking, yummy food distributed all over the place and so much more… I could honestly go on for days about what I liked and loved and appreciated! Oh one last thing – I tried a “jäger-mule” there and it was DELICIOUS! It’s something like a Moscow mule but made with Jägermeister. Tasty!

Should you attend next year?

In conclusion, I’d say that, to me, this was an utterly incredible experience. It was really motivating, inspiring and persuaded me even more so to get my shit together and kick some ass. If you’re somewhat interested in marketing, business, entrepreneurship, innovation and that kind of stuff I’d really recommend you trying to get your hands on a tickets for next year. Because the Fifteen Seconds Festival really is one of a kind.

Here are some of the quotes I live-tweeted while I was at the Fifteen Seconds Festival a couple of days ago:

"Don't trip over your own feet"
"If it feels like work you're doing it wrong"
"Passion first, business comes afterwards."
"People do not trust anything"
"The ones that dare to question create our future"

Oh any they also made an amazing video of the event. I’ll just leave it here so you can watch it and get some visual impression on how others (aka the speakers) felt about the festival and what it looked like inside. ENJOY ;)

Love, Kerstin

Hmmm.. super schwierige Frage.

That sounds like such an amazing festival. I wish to go there next time. Might also be interesting for my bf to see. Unfortunately we might be in NYC next year, but I’ll check. :)
Thanks for sharing, dear. Have a lovely new week!

    liebe Kerstin,
