Isn’t it crazy how much the weather has changed within the past 2 weeks. When we shot these pictures 2 weeks ago at Schloss Eggenberg in Graz it was warm enough for me to walk around in only a dress and tights without freezing to death. As I’m typing this, I’m curled up on the couch, wrapped up in a blanket burrito with a glass of tea in my hand and I’m still kinda cold. Hello December – ugh!
The surprising thing about these pictures, however, isn’t the 20 degrees in November. No, it’s me wearing a dress. I’ve always assumed that dresses (apart from the occasional Dirndl) just weren’t for me. But I actually felt really confident and pretty in that outfit. Maybe it’s the fact that I grew much more self-confident in the last few years, or the flattering shape of the dress. But maybe it’s also the fact that I finally found the perfect pair of tights.
As I’ve almost never worn dresses, the perfect tights just didn’t seem to be of particular importance to me. So I just stepped into the next H&M and bought their very cheap ones. Result: I ended up hating tights because for some reason they just never fit. They’re either too short (when they fit on my hips) or too wide (when the length is okay). Then I was able to try the ITEM m6 Tights Opaque in matte black and let me tell you, they’re amazing! First of all, it was super easy to pick the right size as they offer guidance on their website. So I found out that my perfect size is S/L2 – doesn’t sound like conventional sizing at all! When I received the package and it said “push up & shaping effect” on them, my boyfriend started to laugh and call it “black magic”. But psst.. it actually works! And yes I’m aware that they’re not the cheapest tights in town. But I’ve worn and washed them a couple of times since I got them and they still look the same.
Also I wanted to finally start to invest in high-quality key pieces rather than buying a cheap one after the other only to throw them away after some time.
Yes I really feel like I’ve reached THAT age now^^ Back to the dress. I wonder why I never thought of buying a boho-style dress before? Maybe I just was too dumb to realize that skin-tight wasn’t for my body shape :D Maybe you’ll see me in a dress more often from now on^^. Guess not, I’m still more a pants kinda girl!!
