So, last week’s Sunday Chat was all about dreaming big and seemed to have appealed to a lot of you. I never got so many private messages and compliments on a column before – thank you very much for the flowers. For today’s column I though it’d be only fitting to go more into detail about what dreaming means to me, what I want to do with my life and tell you a bit about some life goals of mine. And this topic perfectly goes with the new campaign of one of my all time favorite brands – DOPandora.
I do want to state that the jewelry worn in the pictures was kindly given to me by the lovely people of Pandora, however, this is not a paid collaboration of any kind. I simply received their press release telling me about their DOPandora campaign and immediately fell in love with it. Their statement and mission is one I can totally get on board with. Pandora has been a brand that I’ve been loving and wearing for years, however, I never really knew about their mission or anything else behind the brand. Seems like they’re really cool, though, trying to be sustainable and supporting women all over the world. Their jewelry is not only pretty to look at but also empowers women and wants to inspire them to find their voice and speak their minds. And THAT is something I can support 100% and wanted to share with you.
“DO is a celebration of every moment in a woman’s life, whether big or small. DO encourages women to embrace their passions and their dreams, whatever their age, to tell the world how they think and feel, and most importantly, to stand up for what they believe in.”
My dreams, hopes, and life goals
I personally find it very important to have a clear goal in mind when approaching life. I do have no idea where this crazy journey that life is will lead me to. However, I do know there are certain things I want to celebrate, accomplish, and or build. And some of these “life goals” I want to share with you today.
WRITE A BOOK – Thinking back, this has always been a big dream of mine. Coming up with a story, writing it down, and publishing it, is something I desperately want to do one day. Now, I know that I am nowhere near ready to do so right now. There is a story buried in my mind that wants to be shared with the world, though. I’m only just waiting for the perfect moment to write it all down. Either way, one day or the other I want to proudly hold my own book in my hands – no matter if anyone but me really wants to read it. Haha!
TICK OFF (EVERYTHING) ON MY TRAVEL BUCKET LIST – Travelling is a big passion of mine. And while, at the moment, I might not have the budget to approach the big items on the travel bucket list (read: Africa, Australia, South America, Asia, …), I want to use my remaining time as a student to see a little bit more of Europe and the country I call my home. Traveling is pure gold for the soul and personal growth.
LIVE IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY – Yup, this perfectly goes with the travel life goal before. However, I think traveling alone isn’t enough when it comes to learning things about yourself and other cultures. So one day, I want to live in a foreign country for a while and experience the whole expat experience. Maybe I can combine this with an internship for a big magazine (another goals of mine) – if you know anyone who needs an intern, holla at this gal.
LEARN TO FLY A PLANE – This one certainly is on the more unrealistic side of things because, a) is it utterly expensive and b) am I not even a good driver. However, learning to fly a plane has been something I’ve wanted to do forever. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually board a (small-ish) plane not the usual way but actually fly it myself. Wouldn’t that be super cool?
BE CONSISTENT – It’s not only the big dreams, that make life worth living, though. A small thing I’ve ALWAYS wanted to learn is to be consistent. I’m so impatient and very easily lose interest in a cause. And that applies to every area of my life. So I definitely want to learn to be more disciplined and consequent, be it with my nutrition, work-life balance, or anything else in life.
To me, dreams aren’t only what keeps you awake at night and roams your thoughts by day. It’s things that drive you forward. Visions of who and where you want to be. They motivate me. They humble me. And they make me work harder. Dreams give me the confidence to stand up and speak my mind.
There’s this quote that says “if your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough”. Honestly, I couldn’t agree more. Your dreams should not limit you and the way you approach life. Your dreams should give you wings. It might take courage and hard work to spread those wings, but girl, you are so going to be where you always wanted to be if you only believe in yourself the magical power of your dreams.
