I’m obsessed with all things Retro/Vintage and always wanted to get myself a Polaroid Camera. However, those things are hella expensive and duh I’m a perfectionist and used to taking 3698 pictures before deciding which one is the best. So… no Polaroid camera for me then. Luckily we live in a time where there’s an app for literally everything – and as expected there’s also an app for printing your phone/Instagram pictures as Polaroids.
Once I decided to print some of my travel memories as Polaroid I had to find a way to display them. Because honestly, I don’t have to print them if I only put them in a cardboard box to collect some dust – thank you, I have plenty of those things at home already :D. So I entered the world-wide web to get inspired and collect some ideas on how to show off my gorgeous Instagram pictures.
On Pinterest I found great ideas such as this cute travel booklet, this amazing picture wall or this super cool wooden Polaroid display. Those ideas were great but I sadly do not have that much space left on my walls so I continued my quest. On Provinzkindchen I found this super cute Travel Shadowbox idea and on Detaillovin I saw this amazing Memory Board. However after going to the furniture store to browse possible frames for either one of those ideas I realized that I needed something much more simple and clean for my flat as it would look rather crowded otherwise. That’s why I opted for this super easy DIY Polaroid Display rather than one of those awesome ideas.
How to make your own Polaroid Display
This DIY is incredibly easy. All you need is a picture frame (38 x 28 cm) and 6 Polaroid pictures. Select your favourite pictures and lay them out in the order you want them to be displayed, put them into the frame (maybe use some tape to hold ‘em in place) and close the frame again. Et voilà, you’re done! Didn’t I promise you that it would be easy?
Polapix by Clixxie
Sure in order to display your pictures like that you could also print your pictures at home. However the ones I received from Clixxie are just like real Polaroid and honestly, once you do Retro you do it fully. I expected them to be super thin and kind of not that HQ but they proved me wrong. Those pictures look like you just printed them from a Vintage Polaroid Camera. The pictures are super clear, bright and the paper is super thick and yet flexible – as I said, just like a real Polaroid!
Ordering Polaroid pictures couldn’t be any easier than with the Polapix App. You literally just have to download the app from the App-store, select the pictures you want to get printed (you can either select pictures from your Instagram or your phone), add a text or leave it blank and you’re good to go. The more Polaroid pictures you order the cheaper they get – for example 1 Polaroid is 1,10€, however if you order 24 of them you only have to pay 0,80€ for one.
If you order some pictures from the app until the 30th of September you can get 2 Polaroid for free by using the code “pola2” at the check-out.
