A couple of days ago I asked on Instagram what you’d like to see on the blog when it comes to Christmas content. Many of you said DIY Advent Calendar ideas would be appreciated. And I thought, hey that indeed is a nice suggestion. However, as I’m not making one myself this year, I decided to just search the net for great DIY ideas and cheap filling ideas rather than show you my poor attempt at re-creating a fab one. If there’s one thing I’m not good at, then it’s crafting and making things look nice. I’m much better with words than my hands I guess :D
DIY Advent Calendar Ideas
I personally think that Advent Calendars don’t need to be filled with the most expensive and luxurious items. It’s the thought that counts, right? A friend of mine just told me that she and her significant other are dividing their advents calendar into two. Every one of them fills 12 doors for the other and they decided for each filling to not cost more than 5€. I think that is such a lovely idea!
For the calendar itself, I prefer easy to make DIY ones. They look absolutely adorable, can double as a Christmas decoration for your flat and are fun to make. The ones I selected are all fairly quick to put together, don’t cost too much and are held in a very minimalistic kinda way. However, if you prefer more luxurious and elaborate ones, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of inspiration on Pinterest!
Advent Calendar Filling Ideas
- Chocolate & Sweets (always a good idea)
- Homemade Coupons (i.e. for a cinema date, massage, self-cooked dinner, etc.)
- Small Stationary Goods
- Selfmade cookies and sweets
- Beauty and Makeup items
- Socks, Decorations and other cute stuff
- Pretty Christmas ornaments
Are you gifting someone a homemade advent calendar this year? Or do you prefer the store bought ones?
