Whenever I should be studying I come up with the best (or worst?) ideas. This time, I decided to finally change my wardrobe from spring/summer to autumn/winter. While doing so, I finally threw out some bits and pieces that I haven’t worn in ages. That’s when I realized that it was time to finally tackle a project that’s been in my head for months: The Capsule Wardrobe.
For the longest time now I wanted to focus rather on quality than quantity when it comes to clothes. I used to buy so much that was mostly cheap, trendy and oh boy, so not my style. When I went through the remaining pieces in my wardrobe, I realized that all of the items I was wearing the most and wanted to keep had something in common. They were what some would call “my personal style items”. The things I threw out I decided to either donate or sell on Kleiderkreisel.
Capsule Wardrobe Project | My Approach
So that’s my starting point. I already have quite some staple items like a good leather jacket and loose basic shirts in my wardrobe. Now comes the fun part: adding new pieces. As I’ve said before, I now want to focus on quality items rather than loads of trend pieces.
Let’s be honest. I probably won’t be following this whole Capsule Wardrobe thing to the max. I’m a shopping lover and I adore experimenting with styles, fabrics and colours. BUT I do want to try to stick to the basics and add some trend pieces every now and then. I still don’t have the cash to buy designer items only so I probably will still be shopping at H&M and the like. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I just don’t want to buy loads and loads only to throw it all out again when the next season comes around. That’s such an unsustainable habit, isn’t it?
My Capsule Wardrobe Wishlist
Of course, one of the first things I did was make a list of things I still need to buy for my capsule wardrobe. Here’s a selection of pieces for A/W that I’m still missing in my closet and some things that I’ve been dying to get for ages – looking at you, Acne Studios Jumper!
What do you think about the Capsule wardrobe concept? Do you have one? And would you like to read more about my little project?
