*INVITATION* You guys may know that I am not the biggest money spender. I would never invest my hard-earned money on expensive clothes or a designer handbag – but when it comes to travel, I am the first to say yes and pay the price. I think life is all about setting priorities and sometimes you just gotta treat yourself. And what’s better than treating yourself to a luxury spa “weekend” in one of the finest hotels out there? Right, nothing! That’s why last week me and the boy drove to South Tyrol to check out the Alpenpalace Deluxe Hotel & Spa.
The Alpenpalace Hotel
The Alpenpalace Deluxe Hotel & Spa is located about 1 hour from Brixen within the South Tyrolean mountains. The hotel itself is a beautifully designed complex surrounded by almost nothing other than wonderful nature. There are various ski areas near the hotel and in summer you’ll find various hiking routes through the mountains and the fields nearby. When we entered the lobby we were immediately greeted by the utterly friendly hotel staff. Our room wasn’t yet ready when we arrived, so we were kindly asked to wait an hour in the lobby. This was a bit tedious but they made sure we weren’t annoyed and offered us various snacks and hot drinks.
Our room: The Alpenpalace Suite
If I was to sum up our room in one sentence, I’d go for: Feeling like a princess! Because honestly, that’s exactly what I did. We were given the 50 m² Alpenpalace Suite, which was absolutely amazing. It had a really comfortable size and offered about everything you would need. A huge bed, a big bathroom with shower AND bathtub, two (!) balconies, a working area with a coffee machine, the comfiest couch I’ve ever seen and 3 TVs. I was absolutely stunned by the sheer beauty and style of this room and once it was time to check out and leave I actually didn’t want to go. To me one of the most important things about hotels is to feel comfortable and at home – that’s exactly how I felt in this room.
The spa experience
Let’s talk about the spa. The Alpenpalace Hotel has an enormous spa area with saunas, pools and treatment rooms. They had a gorgeous indoor pool, a breathtaking outdoor pool (which I think is going to look absolutely amazing in summer!), a separate pool area for kids, an outdoor jacuzzi and a little salt water pool. We tried and tested each of them –
except the children’s pool of course – and absolutely loved it. My boyfriend complained a bit about the pools not being long enough for swimming but duh, we were there to relax not to train.
We also tried most of the saunas and loved it. I’ve never really been a sauna fan before but they didn’t only have the classic tyrolean stube sauna but also various others, such as a steam baths and herbs saunas. On our last day I booked myself a massage treatment because I have never done this before and decided it was about time to experience some real relaxation. I choose to opt for the classic partial body massage for 38€ and loved every minute of it. It felt SO good. Duh! I don’t remember ever being as relaxed as I was in the 3 days that I spend at the Alpenpalace.
My highlight: The food!
I loved the hotel, thoroughly enjoyed the spa area and felt super comfortable in our room but what made me fall head over heels actually was the food. You might have seen me rambling on and off about how rich the breakfast buffet and how incomparable the dinner experience was on Snapchat but I’ll say it again:
Breakfast was served until 11 a.m. and they had everything you could dream of. Freshly made porridge, pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh salmon, a variety of cheese, so many sorts of granola, fresh fruit, …. I’ve never seen a breakfast buffet this grand! The dinner was another league. They sometimes organize theme nights and we were lucky enough to experience the “Tyrolean evening” which was amazing. I asked for the vegan menu and they came up with such an incredible and yet matching alternative for me – I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
I know that many people might think that the hotel isn’t actually cheap. Well, it’s a luxury hotel after all. But I’d always rather spend more money on a spa trip than anything else. You’ll feel so incredibly relaxed and re-charged once you let yourself chill for a few days in an incredibly relaxing atmosphere. And that’s one of the best feelings ever! I definitely plan on going there again – maybe in the summer, when their gorgeous garden is in full bloom?
I basically live posted my stay on Instagram, so have a look HERE if you don’t follow me already and want to see more pictures of our stay at the Alpenpalace in South Tyrol.
What do you think about this hotel? And do you also like to splurge on your holiday rather than material things? Have you ever been to the Alpenpalace or South Tyrol? And if you have any further questions about the hotel do not hesitate to ask :)
A very special thank you goes out to the Alpenpalce for welcoming Miss Getaway as a guest and hosting such a fabulous and relaxing time. The opinion expressed in this post is, as always, 100% my own!
